Encouraging Children: Boundaries in Freedom

Raising children would probably be the most tasking responsibility parents have. It’s easy to give instructions to guide them and maybe even spank them when they fail to follow your instructions. Being the example the children need isn’t always as easy as, “You are only allowed 30 minutes on your phone daily”, or “You are allowed on 1 hour with TV on school days”, or “You should be in bed by 8:30 pm on school days”. … More Encouraging Children: Boundaries in Freedom

Lack of Expression kills Appreciation

Imagine a baby who can’t speak but cries for every want – cold, hot, hungry, sleepy, wants to play, wants to be picked up, fighting sleep and the likes. No matter how much we want to calm a crying baby, it’s usually frustrating after trying many things and the baby is still wailing. That’s how unappreciative lack of expression can be. Hence a sudden reaction or responses thereafter will not be as appreciated as a constructive self-expression. It doesn’t necessarily mean that every thought, even anger, ought to be communication as they are but communication makes effort and situations better understood and appreciated.   … More Lack of Expression kills Appreciation

Celebrate Everyday!

Even when it seems like everything is going wrong in your life, there is always something that’s going right. You owe it to yourself to find out what that is and bring it into your awareness. No one will love you if you do not love yourself. No one will make you happy if you do not radiate happiness. No one can give you confidence if you don’t feel self-worthy. It’s not a matter of someday. How are you dealing with your wife’s evolution?

Someone said women change, hypothetically, every five years. Now the way a 25 year old lady will think and reason is different from what the priorities of a 30 year old woman are, which differs from what a 35 year old’s point of views and perspectives are about life and so on. If you find a married 25 year old lady and perhaps even working, she just feels blessed to be married and working and that sort of gives her satisfaction. She rolls with the routine by the day and everything is dandy. Would you rather face your issues or sweep them under the carpet?

One way of coping with conflict is to sweep things under the carpet which basically means “To conceal a problem expediently, rather than remedy it thoroughly.” Sometimes the tendency to sweep things under the rug comes with the hope that what is concealed will remain undiscovered. Maybe we also do this because the truth is too painful to bear, or we fear the other person’s reaction and the consequences, or we hope things can be resolved without raising the issue.

Light up your relationship

Relationships sometimes don’t go the way we’ve programmed it in our minds because we’re unable to 100% put the other person before ourselves. By nature, humans are selfish which would have been a good thing except that there are situations where selfishness has beclouded our judgment of togetherness and true love.

An example is a home situation where the husband is the bread winner while his wife stays at home all day to run the house. The man gets in late at night tired and cranky. This is the norm and because his wife doesn’t want to upset him any further, she thinks she’s being considerate by letting him be. Over time, the wife develops a thick skin and is able to go months without intimacy and the husband’s mood doesn’t change. During a counselling session, when the husband was asked why he is so cranky all the time, he laments that his wife hasn’t been “receptive”. Now the wife is seated wondering at what point did she reject him or not care for him or did not show interest in being with him. … More Light up your relationship
