Raising kids in a perverse generation

A famous Nigeria actress said, “The best gift you can give your child is the Word of God”. God did indeed give you these children for this time. You need to help them discover the secret in the Word of God that will take them to wonderful places, even beyond this world. Daily instruction in God’s Word is key in raising children in this age. The Word is very clear on men and women, marriage, sexual perversion, and right and wrong. There are so many teachings and personal opinions on the internet which can, quite frankly, get your mind twisted if you’re not even grounded in a Truth. If for the only reason that the Bible is a book of morals and ideals, then there is no harm in obeying to the letter, without additions or subtractions. It’s very clear on the hardening of hearts to the truth, and on fools being led astray. Read it with and to your children daily. Memorize passages. Explain how they relate to our practical times. … More Raising kids in a perverse generation

Single parenting with your partner?

Some say you can’t call it single parenting when you have a partner because that would mean you at least have some sort of support to raise and handle the children emotionally and financially. But in the case where you’re practically the only emotional and financial support your children have, it’s safe to say you’re in the single parenting category. At its most stark, being a single parent is doing EVERYTHING – being the breadwinner, doing all of the parenting and most importantly, having no back up when either one goes south. Being a single parent is generally not staying at home with your children while someone else works to put a roof over your heads. It’s leaving your children with someone else, paying for the privilege and going out to work to put a roof over everyone’s heads. Then it’s arriving home after working a full day and being hit with all the parenting stuff on top of the full day’s paid work. … More Single parenting with your partner?

What gives fulfillment?

Now success is a very relative term. A writer who dreams of being successful may be of the opinion that until his/her book makes waves in the market and is able to sell out within a few weeks of publication, he/she hasn’t succeeded. Or perhaps another writer whose idea of success is to make life-changing impacts with the little readers his/her book can reach. Success is only measurable against the standard which we have set for ourselves. If what I want is to be a stay at home mom, then success will only find me on that level. But if what I want is to be the among Forbes’ top 100 most influential women in the world, then I have by myself raised the bar for which I will have to run with till the day I attend my dream. So it is safe to say while success may have started off as a journey, it comes to an end at a destination, except of course our success story is operations of some sort.      … More What gives fulfillment?

Rejection and neglect

Have you ever wondered what the intent behind the question, “Is it a boy or a girl?” is? What difference really is that question fashioned to achieve? The joy of a new born shouldn’t be diminished by the gender of the child. But we find, more often the neglect and rejection of a girl-child normally starts from birth when the news of safe delivery is broken to the family and especially to the father. As soon as the gender status of a child is announced by the medical attendant after the delivery as a girl, some parents receive such supposedly good news with disappointment and dismay. While it is taught over and again that the sex of a girl is determined by the dominance of the male chromosomes, most men still castigate their wives for bearing a girl child. … More Rejection and neglect
