Story telling: Series 2

Nifemi’s father couldn’t to accept defeat. He wasn’t financially buoyant to take responsibility to excuse his daughter out of an early marital resort. As he sat there, carefully putting his thoughts together to form the right words, he couldn’t help but blame himself for allowing the situation deteriorate to such an extent. Little wonder Nifemi’s mother deemed it fit to give their daughter to a rich married man who would take care of her. Then she in turn gave herself to a better alternative.

Pa Jide and Mama Savage sat quietly on the three-sitter cushion. They had come as a favor to Nifemi to help break the news to her parents. Issues affecting women empowerment

This should be an interesting topic to deliberate upon and it is, especially in a world where women now strive to be equal achievers with men. However, as women, we must understand that whatever we consider as issues starts from the mind. There are issues all around us if we choose to see life from that perspective but I know definitely that a better outlook to life and dreams is perhaps to see every obstacle as a challenge. I remember always wishing for more challenging tasks in my jobs and I remember a colleague telling me to be careful what I wish for. For the Girl Child, Dear Jesus …

As Jesus Christ makes his triumphant entry into Jerusalem today, I bring my prayer request for the little girls.

Dear Jesus,

I pray for the little girl child that she would hear and understand how God values and loves her. I pray that she would be accepted and treasured within her culture as someone who has been created in God’s image. I ask for her protection and loving care; that cultures will be transformed in view of the girl child through the knowledge of God’s word. Give her a sense of belonging, O Lord, that she would feel safe and accepted within the family and community. … More For the Girl Child, Dear Jesus …

A rose that can grow anywhere

She doesn’t run with the crowd
She goes her own way
She doesn’t play after dark
She lights up the day
Got her own kind of style
That sets her apart
And this world doesn’t know what she has within
There’s something rare about her
A rose that can grow anywhere
And there’s no one else that can compare
It’s what makes her different, it makes her beautiful
It’s inside her, blossoming through
It makes her different, it makes her beautiful. … More A rose that can grow anywhere

Gender Inequality

What makes a father think it’s okay for a 5 year old son to have a glass of red wine but not acceptable for his grown wife to have a sip of it? What makes a man think it’s okay for him to live a full life and relegate a woman to the kitchen or be a partial participant in the “other room”? What makes a man think at all that it’s a man’s world? It’s all part of gender inequality treatment.

Psychology tells us that there are no differences between male and female intelligence. However, while men are significantly more likely to take risks than women, this trait enables them to get ahead more quickly than the average woman. Perhaps we owe the intuition in the male gender to segregate from the opposite sex to their more likelihood to be aggressive, a trait influenced by androgen exposure. … More Gender Inequality
