Miles away

As we were – youthful, vulnerable, spontaneous, adventurous – the world should have stood still and time should have remained indiscreet. If walls could talk, truly, they would remind you of the love that was true. They would remind you of how safe I felt in your arms and how happy I was in ecstasy, courtesy of your spell. When we dined at nameless restaurants, walked hand on hand like no one else mattered, when we fed each other without recourse. Those days were always too short because it had to accommodate you, yet twenty-four hours seemed insufficient for the joys that came with the familiarity that you bring. Those days when to dress up was to have you on my mind. The days when to smile was really opening all my cavities that you might see how truly happy you made me. The days when we were just enough as we were.

Age, time and change are constant. With them came complications where promises are difficult to keep and words become unreliable even when they are true. When attainments keep us at fine dining and money is thrown around for what we lack to treasure with time. Relationships have become difficult to maintain because we chase bigger things and I wonder, do you still remember how we were?

Age, time and change are only constant but can we give a chance to the things that matter if they truly ever mattered? Perception and reality are different sides of the same coin, until you flip the coin, you’ll always be certain of your own side of the coin which in any case, you’d be right. But communication and understanding keep hope alive and although we may stray, we will always find our way back into each other’s arms.

It’s not in the noise of the market. It’s who you are when no one else is left.

  1. “…can we give a chance to the things that matter if they truly ever mattered”? 👌 Question for the ages.

Some things get to change with time but certain things makes our lives worth living shouldn’t. It can be tough to sustain the narrative in the face of challenging situations. However, where there is a will, there is surely a way.

    A brilliant piece this.

  2. The ability to take one back to a place of memory where time stood still and feelings were pure and unfettered is a rare one indeed. Thank you for this. For a moment in time, I was Prince Charming again….

  3. A classy masterpiece with soul and refreshing memories of when life wasn’t complicated. A great masterpiece with simplicity and clarity of delivery of a master. Kudos!

  4. Relationships have become difficult to maintain because we chase bigger things and I wonder, do you still remember how we were? True talk.

At times, I kept saying adulthood is full of distance and separations from our loved once.

    Lovely note 📝. Well done
