Making an extraordinary out of the ordinary

Hi people!

A very merry Christmas to you all. What a year it’s been! Heck, I even thought this Christmas might be the worst ever but guess what, everything has its way of first forming a perception in our minds before it materializes. In most cases, they do but when God wants to prove Himself and show you there are higher beings controlling the forces of the Universe, then your thoughts and perceptions won’t change anything.

This is exactly what happened to me this Christmas. I had a lovely outfit I wore 2 Christmases ago, I wore it last Christmas. Since no one would noticed or so I thought, I was going to wear it again today until enough is enough. I got a called from a friend who hooked me up with brand new outfit for Christmas. I hadn’t expected.

For some reason, even while I was busy thinking Christmas would be a drag, my actions were proving otherwise because I was excited for it. I was excited for the plans and gifts I had to give out. It would make me happy seeing others smile and happy because someone remembered to give this season.

So I woke up this morning and to my surprise, there was silence everywhere. I was going to go back to sleep. This couldn’t be Christmas, I thought to myself. Then I laid back on my bed. It felt like a Monday morning actually until I remembered, at least I have to get ready for church.

Then my daughter woke up and when downstairs with me. She saw the gifts under the Christmas tree and her scream and excitement woke the Christmas joy in me. She ran back upstairs to wake her brother and together, with family, it felt like Christmas. Then it dawned on me, a day is like any other day, nothing special. It’s the things we do, the determinations we make and the people we share them with that makes a day memorable and makes it a very special day like no other.

This, I’m sure, is what it is like in every other aspect of our lives. Just like a day is like any other day, any other thing or person can be ordinary too. It’s our determination and strong will that causes us to make something extraordinary out of the ordinary.

So just as Christmas day is made extraordinary, choose to make every other thing extraordinary in your lives as we enter into a new year.

So have a merry Christmas once more and a beautiful 2017 ahead.
