Whenever Americans do anything, Nigerians copy. And when we do, it’s most of the time out of place or extreme. Like, why and what is the cause for our copying? So the world can reckon with us? Hm. I don’t know. What are we trying to derive or what awareness are we trying to bring to limelight? It doesn’t however take away the fact that I’ve been looking up online stores in Nigeria and everywhere around the world where I can also benefit from this – Black Friday crazy sales. 🙂
Well, Black Friday was originally meant to be the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Since the early 2000s, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the US, and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer massive promotional sales. Black Friday Sale is a joint sales initiative by hundreds of online vendors which Nigeria, in recent years, has now joined.
I remember the news on CNN last year of this crazy sale exercise. The crowd was out of control. Despite frequent attempts to control the crowds of shoppers, minor injuries are common among the crowds, usually as a result of being pushed or thrown to the ground in small stampedes. While most injuries remain minor, serious injuries and even deliberate violence have taken place on some Black Fridays.
This year’s Black Friday is here again, happening on Friday 27th November. Anyway, for the Nigerians who want to participate and benefit from this crazy price slash/sale, here are some of the online stores who have push themselves out there to participate for the benefit of shoppers:
Get on there from 12:00am if you can and grab as many as you can.
Happy shopping! 🙂 :p
